Billing FAQ
How much does each session cost?
For US Clients with health insurance:
Nutrition therapy is a covered benefits by most insurance companies. 95% of my clients pay US$20 or less per session and most insurance plans have an unlimited amount of nutrition therapy sessions.
The cost of a session depends on your insurance plan. While most plans fully cover nutrition therapy, at the end of the day, every insurance plan is different. Given this, you can check your price using the pricing estimator before booking an appointment: https://www.faynutrition.com/get-your-price.
The information used for this tool comes directly from the insurance company, so this estimate is usually more accurate than calling the insurance company. That being said, you can also contact insurance if you have additional questions.
I see insurance clients through the Fay Nutrition app, and all these appointments will be booked through Fay Nutrition.
How many sessions are covered by insurance?
Most insurance plans allow an unlimited number of nutrition therapy sessions. While most plans fully cover nutrition therapy, every plan is different. Call your insurance company to verify your coverage.
When Will I Get Charged?
80% of insurance claims come back within a week after the session, at which point you will be charged if there is a co-pay. That being said, you may be charged up to 30 days following the session, depending on the insurance claim. You will be kept informed via email.
What happens if I receive a bill for more than my estimated co-pay?
You will never owe anything more than what their co-pay is, even if a claim is denied. On some rare occasions, you may receive a letter from insurance that includes an amount of more than your estimated co-pay, but rest assured, you will never be charged this rate!
Sometimes, insurance sends confusing letters in the mail that can scare you away from maximizing the benefits that are included in your plan.
That said, submitting a billing inquiry is the best and fastest way for you to get answers to your billing questions. I recommend being as specific as possible in each billing inquiry to help the billing team better help you.
Our billing team is the best in the business when it comes to billing for nutrition services and is on your team fighting for your benefits.
When will the session charge show up on my insurance's Explanation of Benefits (EOB)?
It can take up to 3 to 4 months (and sometimes even longer!) for my name to show up on your EOB (explanation of benefits). And for some insurance plans, my name may never come up because of our delegated status with Fay Nutrition, and these plans will be billed under our clinical quality assurance lead. In these cases, you can verify my in-network status using Fay’s group NPI number (1104334465).
